State Police charged a Portland woman with heroin possession after the car she was in was stopped in Vassalboro, Thursday.

The woman was already out on bail on a pervious heroin charge.

Trooper Tyler Maloon stopped a vehicle for an expired inspection sticker on the Bog Rd. 36-year-old Amy Santiago of Portland, was a passenger in the vehicle. The trooper found drug paraphernalia in her purse including several needles, cotton ball filters, plastic bags and Narcan. One of the needles contained a brown liquid that tested positive for heroin, said police.

Santiago was arrested and charged with Possession of Scheduled Drugs (W) and Violating Conditions of Release and booked at the Kennebec County Jail.
