Bangor pro golfer Jesse Speirs fired an even par 71 in round one of the PGA Q-School Finals. Speirs and 150 other players are trying to earn their way on the Web.com Tour for 2017.

Speirs, playing in the first group of the day, had two birdies and two bogeys.

Players are still out on the course in Florida. The even par score is likely to put him in the middle of the pack after day one of the four day tourney.

The higher a player finishes, the more exemptions he gets to play in the PGA Web.com Tour next year.
