Special Olympics Snowdogs Basketball Team Surprised with Visit from Red Sox World Series Trophy
A secret that's been kept for the past few weeks from the Special Olympics Snowdogs Basketball Team was revealed today at the Presque Isle Rec Center.
Red Sox Security Supervisor, John McDermott, proudly carried in the 2013 Boston Red Sox World Series Trophy into the gym, surprising the unsuspecting Snowdogs. The athletes cheered and quickly crowded around the trophy to have their photo taken.
I spoke with McDermott as well as Head Coach of the Snowdogs, Brian Hamel, and Snowdog athlete, Kent Stephens:
Don't forget, a first responder’s parade is scheduled in downtown Presque Isle tonight. The parade will usher the Red Sox Trophy, will start at The University of Maine at Presque Isle at 6:30 p.m., travel north on Main Street, and end at The Aroostook Centre Mall around 7:00 p.m.
After the parade, a public viewing will take place at The Aroostook Centre Mall by the JC Penney store.
