Sox Win Case Versus Abad
The Boston Red Sox have won the arbitration case versus left-handed reliever Fernando Abad on Tuesday morning.
The arbiter sided with the Sox and Abad will get paid two million dollars in 2017. The lefty had submitted a bid of $2.7 million that was finally deliberated on Tuesday.
The is the first time that Boston has had an arbitration case against a player since Rolando Arroyo in 2002. Abad will receive a pay increase from the $1.3 million he made in 2016.
Abad had an 6.39 ERA in 18 games with the Sox last season. He was part of a mid-season deal that sent him to Boston from the Minnesota Twins.
