After just 34 games in Single-A Salem, the Red Sox are promoting highly touted prospect Andrew Benintendi to Double-A Portland Seadogs. The Dogs play at Hadlock Field tonight through Wednesday before heading on the road.

Benindtendi has zoomed through the Sox system since being drafted #7 last July from the University of Arkansas. First, Rookie League Lowell Spinners, then Class A Salem Red Sox and now with the Seadogs.

At Salem he was hitting .341 with13 doubles, 7 triples, a home run and 32 RBI. Benintendi had a 23-game hitting streak going at one point.

The Seadogs could use some help. At 13-25, they are in last place in the Eastern League Eastern Division.

Benintendi is 21-years-old.
