State Police arrested and charged 48-year-old Timothy Slaton with burglary and criminal threatening with a firearm. Slaton was taken into custody at his home Sunday and taken to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.

Earlier on Sunday Troopers responded to the Corner Road in Bridgewater for a report of an armed home invasion. The homeowner reported that a man had forced his way into the residence brandishing a firearm. There was a brief altercation inside the home and the suspect fled in a vehicle, along with a second man.

The suspects in this case were identified later in the day as Slaton and 52-year-old Alan Gillotti of Ludlow.

Following Slaton’s arrest, Troopers went to Gillotti’s house on the Town Line road in Ludlow to talk to him.  Gillotti had an armed confrontation with the Troopers and he was shot and killed by Sgt. Joshua Haines.

As is standard with all police involved shootings, the Maine Attorney General's Office is investigating the incident and Sgt. Haines remains on administrative leave with pay.
