About 40 firefighters from Clair, Saint-François and Baker Brook responded to the blaze on Des Erables Avenue near Lac Thompson.

Canadian Red Cross spokesman Dan Bedell said a couple, two teenagers, and two grandparents who lived in an attached apartment made it out safely.

Red Cross volunteers offered blankets and some personal-care items, but insurance is expected to take care of emergency lodging, food and clothing, Bedell said.

The fire extensively damaged the home. There were no injuries reported.  The Fire Marshal was called in Sunday to investigate.
