18-year-old Amber Fagre of Oakland, Maine was fatally shot by police on February 10, 2017. Fagre was reportedly in the passenger seat of a car being driven by 25-year-old Kadhar Bailey. Her mother says her daughter was getting a ride and was “in the wrong place at the wrong time,” according to WGME. The officers involved were responding to a report of daytime burglaries on Arnold Road in Vassalboro when they opened fire on the truck, shooting Fagre in the temple. Friends and family accuse the police of using excessive force.

They are petitioning Senator Susan Collins to investigate the incident.
