According to Steve McCausland of the Maine Public Safety Department, 60-year-old Steve Whitman, owner of Long Lake Camps in Princeton, was shot by 52-year-old Craig Woodruff of Baileyville late Tuesday afternoon. Woodruff was found dead inside of his SUV a short distance away along the Long Lake Camp Road.

Whitman called 911 just before 5:00pm to report the shooting and identified Woodruff as the man who shot him. Police say the two men knew each other.

Woodruff's body will be transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta on Wednesday for an autopsy.

McCausland said Whitman is currently being treated at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for two gunshot wounds. He is expected to survive.

State police detectives continue to investigate.
