It was determined that 47-year-old Michael Fortenberry of Cranston, Rhode Island was operating a 2013 Kia sedan.  In the vehicle with Mr. Fortenberry were 30-year-old Eric O'Connor and a 6-year-old girl.

While stopped in traffic, Fortenberry's car was struck by a 2005 Dodge pickup operated by 45-year-old Real Oakes Jr. of Presque Isle.  In the vehicle with Mr. Oakes were 42-year-old Stacy Dwyer and a 15-year-old girl, Crandall said.

White-out conditions on top of Bunker Hill at the time were causing significant visibility issues at the time.  Fortenberry, O'Connor and the 6-year-old were transported to the hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening. There were no injuries reported in the pickup, Crandall said.  All involved were wearing seat belts.
