A Saint-Léonard man pleaded guilty Thursday to stealing thousands of dollars from his employer following an investigation by the RCMP Financial Crime Unit.

Forty-seven-year-old Guy Tardif pleaded guilty at the Court of Queen's Bench in Edmundston, NB to one count of theft over $5,000 against Suncor Energy/Petro Canada and one count of theft over $5,000 against the Department of National Defense.

Tardif was charged in Grand Falls Provincial Court in May 2012 . The charges were the result of a six-month investigation by the RCMP and the Grand Falls Police Force.

It is alleged that Tardif was defrauding and stealing upwards of 250,000 from his employer over a three-year period between August 2008 and August 2011.

Tardif was the operator and sole employee of the gas station in Grand Falls. He is scheduled to appear back in court on November 3, 2014 for sentencing.
