Tom's of Maine announced Tuesday the top 15 non-profits that made the cut for their 50 States for Good initiative, and a Saco, Maine based group made the cut.

Fifteen non-profits from Maine to Washington will be sharing $150,000 in grant money as winners of Tom’s of Maine’s fifth annual ‘‘50 States for Good’’ program.

The Michael T. Goulet Traumatic Brain Injury and Epilepsy Foundation based in Saco will receive a $10,000 grant that goes toward the grassroots community project.The Foundation’s efforts to advance brain safety and awareness in Maine will be expanded and serve as a model program for other states. Congratulations!

The public cast more than 58,000 votes online in selecting the winners from 51 finalists, one from each state and the District of Columbia.

This year’s grants will help support projects aimed at preserving land, promoting community gardens, helping people with disabilities, providing food and shelter to those in need, and empowering children.
