Former Maine high school basketball standout Parise Rossignol will leave the UMaine women’s basketball program after two seasons, according to a report by the Bangor Daily News on Thursday night.

The Van Buren native will leave the team after averaging just 4.3 minutes per game with the Black Bears during the 2015-16 season.  Rossignol scored just 0.4 points per game and played in 14 contests this past season and 19 games during the 2014-15 campaign.  She will remain at UMaine and focus on completing her degree in secondary education.

Rossignol was the fastest high school athlete to reach 1,000 points in Maine history and finished her four years with 2,589 points, the second most all-time.  In addition to her basketball skills at Van Buren, Rossignol also excelled at soccer and tennis.  Her father Matt played for the UMaine men’s basketball team from 1985-89 and is 11th all-time in scoring for the program.

The Black Bears graduated eight seniors this season and have just Sigi Koizar as major contributors left for the upcoming season.  Koizar logged 35.1 minutes per game this past season with Kirsten Johnson being the next highest remaining with 4.5.
