A Nova Scotia man has been charged following a seizure of thousands of illegal cigarettes in a traffic stop this week in Carleton County.

Woodstock RCMP stopped a car Tuesday on the TransCanada Highway near Waterville, N.B. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 120,000 contraband cigarettes, according to Sgt. J.P. MacDougall. The 29-year-old driver was arrested and taken into custody.

James Logan Swim of Shelburne County, N.S. appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court on Wednesday and was charged with possession of contraband tobacco. Swim was remanded in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday.
