A 69-year-old man from Nova Scotia has been fined after pleading guilty to possession of unstamped tobacco products in relation to a seizure last November.

On November 2, 2017, members of the New Brunswick RCMP Tactical Traffic Enforcement Unit conducted a traffic stop on Highway 2 in Hartland, N.B.

The traffic stop resulted in a seizure of more than 20,000 contraband cigarettes and 44 illegal cigars.

Jean Claude Alary of Oxford, N.S., appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court on January 30, 2018, and pled guilty to possession of unstamped tobacco products under the Excise Act.

He was fined $4999.88.
