Prince’s Former Band the Revolution to Reunite for Two Shows in Minneapolis
According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the band will perform two reunion concerts in September at their old stomping grounds - First Avenue nightclub in Minneapolis. The historic venue is where Prince and the Revolution filmed their classic 1984 film, Purple Rain.
The Revolution felt the need to come together to celebrate the life and music of their former band leader with his adorning fans. “Only by playing for you, the fans, can we be Prince’s Revolution. He gives Us 2 oneanother now, as we all start to heal and fill forever emptiness with sound. 2gether we are The Revolution," said the group in a statement.
Original Revolution members Wendy Melvoin, Lisa Coleman, Bobby Z, Matt Fink and Brownmark are ready to perform along with special guests guitarists Dez Dickerson and Andre Cymone, who played with Prince during the pre-Revolution days.
The Revolution reunion shows will take place Sept. 2 and 3. Tickets went on sale on Friday (July 8) at 11AM at First Avenue and online via etix.com. Prices range from $65 for general admission to $100 for VIP.
There's no official word if the Revolution will take their act on the road. But performing at First Avenue is a great start for the band to get the jitters out and evaluate which songs fans want to hear more if they do decide to tour.
