A 22-year-old Presque Isle man was arrested Thursday after police say he threatened his family with a gun in an area near the city landfill.

The Presque Isle Police Department responded to a 911 call from residents at 146 Lathrop Road at around 1 p.m. The callers reported their son was under the influence of narcotics and actively threatening to kill them and burn their house down. The young man was reported to have a .22 rifle and had threatened their lives with it.

Presque Isle PD said the parents were able to lock themselves in a basement bedroom and call 911.

Officers responded, set up a perimeter and were able to bring the call to a peaceful result.

Police say 22-year-old Anthony Lovely of Presque Isle was taken into custody with several felony charges including aggravated domestic assault, criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, and terrorizing.

Lovely was not awarded bail and was transported to the Aroostook County Jail. PIPD was assisted by the Aroostook County Sheriff's Office and Presque Isle Ambulance.

There were no injuries to anyone involved.
