David's KPT in Kennebunkport closed suddenly on Monday leaving its staff of 45 people out of work.

No, it wasn't the storm. According to the Portland Press Herald, The Kennebunkport Resort Collection, which owns the restaurant with chef David Turin, decided to close the restaurant.

The newspaper reported that there are plans to "reopen in 2018 with a new name and concept." Employees were met by a human resources representative on Monday morning. They did not receive notice of the closure and have no promise of a job whenever the restaurant may reopen, according to the Press Herald.

Turin said he was instructed not to contact anyone, according to the newspaper, and that he was just as blindsided by the closure.

The social media account for David's KPT have since been shut down. Turin owns several restaurants in the Greater Portland area including Opus Ten, David's 388, and David's in Monument Square.
