Every week at PopCrush, we’re putting the spotlight on one up-and-coming act you need to know about. Why? So you can get on board early before everyone else and their mother jumps on the bandwagon…and so you can be that one friend in the group who’s always like, “Um, actually, I prefer their earlier work.”

There must be something in the Thames' water, because without fail, London continues to churn out a steady stream of dance floor-shaking electro-pop and house artists. From Jess Glynne to AlunaGeorge to Katy B, the Brits know a thing or two about fusing soulful vocals with throbbing club beats and pop melodies. The latest club queen to get us grooving? BB Diamond.

BB Diamond's name precedes her: Much like the precious gem she's named for, the emerging pop diva crafts a sound that is at one delicate and hard.

This juxtaposition is no more apparent than on her latest single, "Praying," a disco-fueled dance floor anthem with hymn-like lyrics, a soaring R&B-inflected chorus, throbbing electronics and a joyful gospel choir that calls to mind Madonna's "Like A Prayer," appropriately.

"'Praying' is a song I love," the artist tells us, adding, "It's been amazing to see so many people beginning to discover me and my sound, from the U.K. to Japan to the U.S., and I'm really excited for the next steps in my project."

But as freshly-minted as BB Diamond is, the singer-songwriter has an impressive collection of emotive dance jams that prove her rising pop star status is no glitch.

Last year's "Instinct," for instance, is an instantly infectious ode to intuition and love at first sight in massive pop form, and you can't help but twitch along as the tune works its way into your bones: The bass is heavy, beats going hard as they whoosh and throb, while airy synths percolate and bounce alongside the vocalist's infectious melodies.

In an interview with Art Rocker, BB Diamond recounted being inspired by Michael Jackson when she was a little girl.

"I remember being so young and watching MoonWalker by Michael Jackson on VHS and being in complete awe and thinking to myself 'I want to sing and dance like that!'" she said. "And that’s where it all started really."

Unsurprisingly, that passion for pop performance seeped its way into her own artistry as a singer. Released this past spring, "Feeling" is another big house tune with a catchy hook and loving sonic and visual nods to the '90s. (CeCe Peniston, eat your heart out!)

With a massive collaboration with British producer Shift K3Y under her belt, as well as all the onstage experience she logged while touring with artists like Glynne, Katy B and Clean Bandit, it's only a matter of time before BB Diamond gets her radio shine.

How do we know? Eh, just call it an instinct.
