The Bathurst RCMP say a large sum of money was stolen after someone broke into a home on Main Street in Belledune early last Thursday.

In their investigation, RCMP were able to determine that the break and enter and theft occurred sometime between midnight and 7 a.m., when no one was home, according to Sgt. Daniel Dorais of the Bathurst Detachment.

Police have not said how the suspect or suspects gained entry to the home or exactly how much money was stolen.

The RCMP's Forensic Identification experts along with the RCMP Police dog have been assisting with the investigation to gather evidence which could help identify whoever is responsible for this crime.
