The West District RCMP is investigating two alleged cases of arson that occurred in the Drummond area late last week.

Police were called to a residence on the Price Road shortly before 11 p.m. Friday. A pickup truck that was parked in the driveway of the home was on fire, according to Cpl. Michel Ouellette of the Grand Falls Detachment.

About 45 minutes later, police received a second call that a vacant house on Route 105 was on fire. The pickup sustained damage to the inside and the local fire department was able to contain the fire in the residence to the kitchen. No one was injured during the two fires, Ouellette said.

RCMP believe that due to the time frame and locations of both fires that they were set by the same person or persons. The investigation is continuing.
