Around 11:45 a.m. Sunday, Officer Morrison pulled over an SUV from Georgia matching the description from a previous complaint, according to the Ashland Police Department.

Upon further investigation, police determined that the vehicle was stolen from a family in Georgia. The owners had evacuated their home with all their personal belongings earlier this month to escape the approaching hurricane.

Ashland Police say the driver from Georgia and the passenger from Texas were arrested for unauthorized use of property and are being held at the Aroostook County Jail.

The U.S. Border Patrol and their K-9 assisted. Ashland PD is working with the owners of the SUV to reunite them with their vehicle and belongings.
