The Portland Press Herald reports Brunswick Officer Matthew Nicholson was making a turn in his cruiser when he hit John Ross, who was walking across a ramp in a marked crosswalk.

Police say Ross had acknowledged that he did not use the crosswalk button and was walking against the signal.

Ross was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland with non-life threatening injuries.

The Brunswick Police Department cruiser suffered damage to its front windshield and Officer Nicholson was not injured.
