The New England Patriots may be looking for a new long snapper for the upcoming 2016 season.

Long snapper Joe Cardona may have to leave the team to fulfill his Navy commitments for a full year.  Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus said on the Dan Patrick Show (5:30 mark) on Thursday that Cardona may have to miss an entire season due to these commitments, as he’s already been assigned to a naval ship.  Cardona has been working in Rhode Island at the Naval Preparatory Academy over the past year as part of his service to the military branch.

The Pats recently signed Christian Yount to a contract this off-season.  Yount is a veteran long snapper that has played parts of four seasons with Tampa Bay and Cleveland.
