David Ortiz won the Hank Aaron Award for the American League with his offensive performance during the 2016 season, announced during a press conference before game two of the World Series in Cleveland.

Ortiz took home the honor for the second time in his career after previously winning it in 2005.  Big Papi led the MLB with 48 doubles and a .620 slugging percentage during the season.  He also batted .315 with 38 home runs and 127 runs batted in.

The appearance at the press conference was the first appearance the Sox DH has made since Boston was eliminated by the Cleveland Indians in the ALDS earlier in the month.

The Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant won the award in the National League in a vote determined by fans and MLB Hall of Famers.  The award is given to the best offensive performance in each league and is named after slugger Hank Aaron.
