NorState Federal Credit Union proudly supports local community events in many communities throughout Aroostook County.

And the Acadian Festival in Madawaska, now entering its 41st year, is one event that NorState has been a proud sponsor of for many, many years.

The Acadian Festival is the largest cultural event in Maine that celebrates French-Acadians who have settled on the American/Canadian shores along the St. John River Valley.

Traditional foods, music, historical and cultural displays, fanfare and festivities along with reunions of founding families make this event successful year after year.

Chris Braley is the President of the Acadian Festival committee and he says that sponsors like NorState Federal Credit Union and business owners, along with people who so generously support their fundraisers and town appropriations make their festival possibly with an annual cost of approximately $45,000.

Along with sponsorship, NorState also participates in the Acadian Festival ongoing festivities and challenges such as the Human Foosball, parade and contribute toward the family reunion and other events scheduled during the festival.

Braley credits his committee for working hard year round to assure that Madawaska and surrounding communities can enjoy a summertime festival in the heart of the St. John Valley.

If anyone would like to donate to the festival committee, donations can be dropped off at any NorState location addressed to Mindy Braley’s attention. Vive les Acadien!
