RCMP say Jean-Pierre Thibodeau of Pointe-à-Tom was sentenced Wednesday in Tracadie Provincial Court. He had previously pleaded guilty on November 19, 2015, to one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine, according to Cpl. Ben Bibeau of RCMP Federal Operations.

The charge stemmed from Operation J-Touchdown, a joint police investigation conducted in 2013. More than two kilograms of cocaine, two vehicles and cash were seized during the course of the investigation, Bibeau said. In all, 10 people were charged.

The RCMP said it continues to work with its policing partners to disrupt and dismantle the trade of illegal drugs in New Brunswick.
