Three years after it was first announced, The Silver Chair is finally making its way to the big screen. Sony and TriStar will back the long-developing project, which is the next chapter in the Chronicles of Narnia series. As was the case a few years ago, Life of Pi scribe David Magee will script the new sequel, which has yet to secure a director.

THR reports that The Silver Chair is once again in development with the help of TriStar, Entertainment One and the Mark Gordon Company. Based on the C.S. Lewis novel of the same name, the new installment in the Chronicles of Narnia franchise takes place some years after the events of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, as Prince Caspian has become king and has a son of his own, who has gone missing. Aslan the lion enlists the help of human protagonists Eustace Scrubb and Jill Pope in his quest to find Caspian’s heir.

The Silver Chair marks the fourth film in the series, which began in 2005 with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and continued with 2008’s Prince Caspian and 2010’s The Voyage of the Dawn Treader — all of which culminated in over $1 billion at the box office.

It’s unclear if previous franchise stars will return for the new sequel, or if their parts will be recast. Ben Barnes played Caspian in the second and third films, the latter of which introduced Eustace, played by The Revenant’s Will Poulter. Liam Neeson also starred in the series, lending his voice to the role of Aslan.
