A 19-year-old man will have his day in court this afternoon to face a murder charge in the death of an elderly Richmond Corner woman.

Kyle Edmund Scott, formerly of Harvey Station, was charged with second degree murder in the death of 82-year-old Sarah Kennedy earlier this month.

[UPDATE] Scott has yet to enter his plea; he has been sent to Restigouche for a psychiatric assessment.

The RCMP was called to Kennedy’s home on Route 555 on October 5th after a family member discovered her body inside the house. Police said Scott was arrested later that day driving the woman’s vehicle.

Neighbors say Scott had been working in the Woodstock area. Some of the suspect’s personal belongings were allegedly found in a borrowed 4-wheeler that had been left near the property in Richmond Corner.

Scott will appear in Woodstock Provincial Court at 1 p.m. today.
