The RCMP were called to a residential fire on Highway 112 in Harewood just after 12 p.m. on Saturday. There was no one inside the home at the time, according to Cpl. Clay Wortman of the Riverview Detachment. The home was badly damaged in the fire.

RCMP arrested Peter Keith later the same day in Moncton. Police say the suspect attempted to avoid arrest by running from police after RCMP stopped his vehicle near Centennial Park.

Keith has been charged with arson and will also face other charges in connection with other complaints related to the same residence, Cpl. Wortman said. The suspect has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing in Moncton Provincial Court on Wednesday, November 4.
