Codiac Regional RCMP responded to two armed robberies at businesses on Mountain Road in Moncton. Sgt. Eric Larose said the first robbery was reported at a Petro Canada gas station at around 11:45 p.m. Thursday. The second happened at a Needs convenience store at about 4 a.m. Friday.

In both cases, Larose said a man entered the business, stated that he was armed, approached an employee and demanded money. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money each time. No one was injured. Police believed the two robberies were committed by the same person.

RCMP arrested a man in the Victoria Park area at around 8:30 Friday morning, in connection with the crimes. He is being held in custody, and is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court Friday afternoon.
