The 1st Annual Amy Theriault Memorial Walk will take place on Sunday, May 31st at 1PM at the St. Charles Catholic Church in St. Francis, Maine.  The group will be led past Amy and her family’s former residence and will conclude at the cemetery where her memory will be honored.  Anyone who is unable to participate in the walk portion of the event is welcome to join everyone at Amy’s grave site.

Amy Theriault’s alleged murderer and ex-boyfriend, Jesse Marquis, is scheduled to enter a plea of guilty or not guilty next month.  If he enters a plea of guilty, Amy’s family is concerned that he will be offered a settlement that does not match the weight of the crime.  The family believes that Marquis should be handed down a life sentence – a life for a life, and they are collecting 5,000 signatures from community members who agree with them.  They hope the petition will influence a judge’s decision when sentencing.

While the family awaits resolution, they are determined to keep Amy’s memory alive.  “If I can help save just one person’s life by keeping Amy’s story in the public eye, I will feel like something good will have come of all this,” says Amy’s mother, Barbara Theriault.  As Casey Faulkingham at Hope and Justice Project notes, “she probably already has helped save a life, she just doesn’t know it yet.”
