State Police say 68-year-old Joseph B. Hogan was driving his 1996 Harley Davidson behind two vehicles around 2:30 p.m. when he decided to pass them.  Hogan did not notice that the lead car had its left turn signal on.

Police say the driver of the car, William Livorsi, 57, of Hodgdon started to turn left into a residence and Hogan sideswiped the driver's side of the car and caught his right ankle on the vehicle.  Mr. Hogan managed to stay on the motorcycle and stopped a short distance down the road.

Hogan suffered a broken ankle and a deep laceration on his lower leg. He was taken by ambulance to Houlton Regional Hospital and then transferred to a Bangor hospital to undergo surgery.

Maine State Trooper Ethan Doody investigated the crash. The U.S. Border Patrol assisted at the scene.
