Police say that shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday, a car traveling south on Route 130 crashed into the back of a potato truck that was heading in the same direction. The driver of the car, a man in his 30's, was able to escape the vehicle before it was engulfed in flames, according to Cpl. Lloyd Harquail of the West District RCMP.

The man was transported to hospital with injuries believed to be non life-threatening. The car was completely destroyed.

RCMP say excessive speed and reduced visibility due to fog were contributing factors in the crash. The driver of the car has been fined under the Motor Vehicle Act.

The investigation continues.
