Man Denies Maine Nose-Biting Attack
A man accused of nearly biting off the nose of a stranger on the dance floor at a Lewiston bar appeared in court Wednesday, two years after the alleged attack.
According to the Sun Journal, 33-year-old Todd Lyons, formerly of Mechanic Falls, pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault in Androscoggin County Superior Court. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison.
Prosecutors said that in November 2011, an intoxicated Lyons walked up to Ryan Zinninger at Pub 33 in Lewiston while Zinninger was dancing with friends and bit his nose.
Police say the tip of Zinninger's nose was bitten almost completely off. He was rushed to the hospital where he required 12 stitches.
Zinninger is from Greene, Maine. The two men apparently did not know each other.
Lyons was found in Mississippi recently, working at a local carnival, and was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
