A 30-year-old Miramichi man wanted for aggravated assault has been arrested following a standoff with police.

Eric Norbert ‘Pimp’ Robichaud was wanted by police in connection with an assault on July 6 in Curventon, New Brunswick, according to Constable Cory Matchett.

The Miramichi Police Force arrested Robichaud late Wednesday evening, following a standoff at an apartment on Leoland Court in Miramichi. Prior to his arrest, Miramichi Police evacuated the building as precaution. No one was injured in the standoff.

Two Miramichi women, ages 36 and 49, were also arrested and later released.

Eric Robichaud was turned over to the RCMP. He appeared in court on Wednesday to face numerous charges relating to the July 6 incident, including aggravated assault and forcible confinement.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday for a bail hearing. The investigation continues.
