Man And Woman Charged In Lincoln, New Brunswick Murder [PHOTOS]

Charges of second-degree murder have been laid against a man and a woman in connection with the shooting death of 34-year-old Robert John Smith, also known as Bobby Martin, Jr., of Fredericton.

Thirty-year-old Evan Polchies of the Kingsclear First Nation and 23-year-old Joe-Anna Hachey of Fredericton appeared in Burton Provincial court on January 30, 2017.

Polchies and Hachey were both arrested in Benton, N.B., on January 29, 2017, following a police search for both as people of interest in the investigation.

In the early morning hours of January 26, the RCMP responded to the shooting in Tamarack Park off the Lincoln Road in Lincoln, N.B. The victim was taken to hospital, where he died later that afternoon.

Polchies and Hachey have been remanded into custody. Polchies is scheduled to appear in court again on January 31 at 1:30 p.m. Hachey is scheduled to appear again on February 10 at 10:30 a.m.
