This is the story of a World War II mystery in Northern Maine. On September 22, 1942, a seven man crew died when their B-25 died when their plane crashed shortly after taking off from Presque Isle.

Another bomber taking off from the Presque Isle base, also a B-25, crashed later that day in Fort Fairfield, killing seven people.

Eight bombers were scheduled to take off the next morning with orders to fly on to Newfoundland.

During the days of WWII, the skies above Presque Isle were frequently darkened with hundreds of military aircraft coming from and leaving for the European theater.

What caused the accident remains somewhat a mystery. A popular rumor says that it was sabotaged by a female Nazi sympathizer working at the Presque Isle base who put dynamite in the plane.
