Maine pro Shawn Warren is going to play in golf's final major tournament, the PGA Championship in August, and he earned the spot in dramatic fashion.

The Falmouth CC pro was part of a 9-man playoff for the final five spots in the PGA late yesterday. Warren was playing in the PGA Professional Championship in California. The PGA keeps 20 spots for working club pros to make the PGA Major.

He rolled in a birdie putt to secure his first-ever spot in one of golf's grand slam events. Check out the putt (below)...

Warren is a former Class A high school state champion from Windham (2002). He has won the Maine Amateur Championship, the Maine Open Tournament and he often plays in the Greater Bangor Open. He won the GBO in 2008.

NOTE: The British Open, golf's third major of the year, is in July and then the PGA Championship is August 9th through 12th at Bellerive CC in St. Louis. Justin Thomas is defending champ. It will be the 100th PGA Golf Championship.
