Maine State Police Troop F Weekly Report – May 2 – 8

Here’s a look at the activity log of the past week from Troop F of the Maine State Police, headquartered in Houlton.

May 2 – Trooper Darcy arrested a 34-year-old Patten man for Violation of Conditions of Release as the result of a traffic stop on I-95 in Smyrna. The man failed a drug test that was given to him at the Barracks.

May 2 – Tr. Endre was south bound on Route 1 in Monticello when he saw a green passenger car north bound without an inspection sticker. Tr. Endre turned around to stop the vehicle and it immediately pulled off Route 1 onto a short side street, the road turns to a dead end less than 500 feet off of Route 1. The operator then stopped the vehicle, with no place left to go. The operator was a 22-year-old male, his license status was revoked. Tr. Endre summonsed the operator for OAR. The passenger of the vehicle had a valid Maine license.

May 3 – Tr. Luce investigated a vehicle theft in Wallagrass. A man called reporting a Ford Taurus had been stolen from his property. Upon investigation Tr. Luce learned that the complainant had three vehicles on the property and gave permission for a towing company to one of the vehicles for money that he owed. Tr. Luce looked into the towing company and learned that there was a misunderstanding and two vehicles were towed. The complainant was relieved to learn of the mix up and decided to let the towing company keep the second vehicle and had the money put towards his debt.

May 4 – Tr. Saucier attempted to conduct a DRE test on a subject for Houlton PD, but the male too impaired and was transported to the hospital for medical evaluation.

May 4  – Tr. Sylvia and Merry were called to assist Millinocket PD with a bail check and the search yielded no illegal substances.

May 5 – Tr. Endre stopped a motor vehicle on Route 1 in Littleton for speeding. The operator of the vehicle was a 24-year-old male, who is on probation for trafficking. The operator has search and test as a condition of probation. Tr. Endre searched the vehicle and found a baggie of paraphernalia hidden in a void in the dash. Within the baggie were needles, a container with white residue in it, a spoon and what appears to be a strip of suboxone. A urine test showed positive for methamphetamine and suboxone. Tr. Endre then interviewed the operator at the Barracks about the items found. The operator admitted that the paraphernalia was his, and told the Trooper that the strip was in fact suboxone. Probation Officer Blanchette put a probation hold on the operator and Tr. Endre transported him to the ACJ. While at the ACJ the operator was summonsed for possession of schedule W drug. Tr. Darcy and MDEA assisted with the traffic stop.

May 6 – Tr. Endre stopped a motor vehicle on Route 1 in Caribou for travelling 80mph in a 55mph zone. The operator of the vehicle was a 21-year-old female with a small child in the back seat. The female’s license status was suspended. The operator was summonsed for OAS infraction as well as speeding.

May 6 – Tr. Saucier (inactive Marine) spent the day Friday helping the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program with gearing up their food truck in Limestone for the Loring Timing Association races this past weekend. All foods / drinks are donated and all proceeds go to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. Job Corps students who either are going into the military or have an interest in the military also donated time to assist. The Young Marines led by Ret. Tr. Dan Deschaine ran the food truck this weekend at the races.

May 6 – Tr. Darcy responded to a single vehicle crash in Masardis where the caller believed the man was impaired. The driver had fled the scene immediately after the crash. Tr. Levesque and K9 Vitz responded to the scene to conduct a track. The track went for over 3 miles and led to the mill in Masardis. At this point it has not been confirmed who the driver was but the person it is believed to be has a revoked license and is currently on bail. The investigation is ongoing. Ashland PD assisted at the scene.

May 7 – Tr. Darcy, Tr. Bell, and Sgt. Fuller responded to what was reported as a rolling domestic in Linneus. The caller was an off duty police officer who observed a male and female yelling at each other in a vehicle. The male and female pulled over at one point and switched places while driving. They also drove into a ditch at one point. Troopers located them on a dirt road in Haynesville. Investigation revealed it was a verbal argument only and no assaults had taken place. The male and female had both been drinking and driving. As a result, Tr. Darcy arrested the male party for Felony OUI, OAS, and VCR. Tr. Bell arrested the female party for OUI.

May 8 – Troopers were dispatched to a report of a head on crash in T6-R6, west of Shin Pond. It was reported that there were multiple injuries to the passengers of both vehicles. Once at the scene Troopers determined that Vehicle 1, 2016 Nissan Altima, was traveling west on Route 159 being operated by Gurprasad Singh (27 year old male from INDIA). Vehicle 2, 2013 GMC Sierra towing a trailer with a 4 wheeler on it, was traveling east being operated by Douglas Kelshaw (68 years old from GLENBURN, ME). As Singh came around a very sharp left hand corner, he went into the opposite lane as they are used to doing in India where they are from. Kelshaw tried to avoid Singh by moving over into the soft shoulder. Singh’s vehicle struck Kelshaw’s vehicle head on in the shoulder of Kelshaw’s side of the road. Singh’s vehicle had four passengers and all were transported with injuries. Kelshaw’s and his two passengers were transported to the hospital with injuries.
All eight people involved in the crash sustained some sort of injury ranging from complaints of pain, head injuries and broken bones. Tr. Darcy, Tr. Bell, Sgt. Fuller, Maine Forestry, Maine Warden Service, Patten Fire and Ambulance, Island Falls ambulance, MT Chase Fire and Millinocket PD assisted at the scene. PHOTO
