Troop F of the Maine State Police responded to 96 calls for service this past week in and around Aroostook County. Here is a sampling from the Troop’s weekly report:

Incident Type: DRIVING WITHOUT A LICENSE Date: 3/04/2018 Town: PATTEN Trooper: TR. ADAMS Brief Synopsis: Tr Adams was patrolling in Patten. Tr Adams saw a vehicle on the road and recognized the New Hampshire operator as a male that Tr Adams had summonsed for operating without a license 2 days prior to this date. Tr Adams stopped the male and again summonsed him for operating without a license. The male had a suspended New Hampshire license.

Incident Type: OAS Date: 3/05/2018 Town: SHERMAN Trooper: CPL. MICHAUD Brief Synopsis: While Cpl. Michaud was on patrol in Sherman, he pulled a vehicle over for having and expired inspection sticker. After speaking with the operator Cpl. Michaud determined that the female operator’s right operate was currently under suspension. She was cited for Operating After Suspension and arrangements were made to get the vehicle back to the owner’s residence.

Incident Type: RECOVERED STOLEN PROPERTY Date: 3/05/2018 Town: CASTLE HILL Trooper: CPL. MICHAUD Brief Synopsis: While at home, Tr. Stoutamyer received a tip about the possible location of a stolen vehicle. Cpl. Michaud followed up on the information and ultimately recovered a stolen 2016 Charger. The vehicle had been stolen out of Biddeford and was hidden in a barn on some rental property. The vehicle was towed and returned to the owner the next day.

Incident Type: OPERATING AFTER H/O Date: 3/05/2018 Town: WESTON Trooper: TR. BELL Brief Synopsis: Tr Bell responded to a motor vehicle crash that occurred in Weston. Upon investigation, Tr Bell found that the operator had left the scene of the crash. Tr Bell determined that the 29-year-old male was in HO status and on bail. Tr Bell was unable to locate the male but submitted a report to the DA’s office for a warrant to be issued on the male, with charges of Operating after revocation- 2 priors, Class C, violation of conditions of release class C, leaving the scene of a property damage crash class E and failing to report a crash, class E

Incident Type: CRIMINAL SPEED Date: 3/05/2018 Town: CROSS LAKE Trooper: CPL. HAFFORD Brief Synopsis: Cpl Hafford was patrolling in Cross Lake and met a vehicle travelling 82 in a 45-mph zone. Cpl Hafford issued the 32-year-old male a summons for criminal speed.

Incident Type: SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT Date: 3/06/2018 Town: MADAWASKA LAKE Trooper: TR. CURTIN Brief Synopsis: Tr. Curtin responded to Madawaska Lake when a neighbor reported that he thought a camp next door had possibly been broken into. The man reported seeing someone at the camp on a snowmobile. The subject was ultimately tracked down, and it was determined that he had permission to use the camp as an access point to the lake.

Incident Type: OAS Date: 3/06/2018 Town: HOULTON Trooper: TR. DUFF Brief Synopsis: Tr. Duff was conducting traffic enforcement on I-95 when he observed a truck make a lane violation. Tr. Duff initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. As the truck was making its stop in the breakdown lane, Tr. Duff observed the truck’s wheels lock up and a lot of movement inside the vehicle. Tr. Duff spoke with the two male occupants and later determined that the men had switched drivers. The man who owned the truck was tired and let his employee drive. The employee had a suspended license. Tr. Duff issued the man a summons for OAS.

Incident Type: OAS Date: 3/07/2018 Town: LINNEUS Trooper: CPL. QUINT Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Quint was conducting rural patrol in the town of Linneus when he stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction. Cpl. Quint learned that the male operator’s license had expired in August 2017. Cpl. Quint summoned the man for his expired license and called for a licensed driver.

Incident Type: ACCIDENT Date: 3/08/2018 Town: BLAINE Trooper: TR. KILCOLLINS Brief Synopsis: On March 8, at 12:11 PM the Maine State Police responded to a roll over crash that occurred on Military Rd. (Rt. 1) in Blaine. Tr. Ryan Kilcollins responded to investigate the crash. Tr. Kilcollins learned that the 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling south and lost control on the snow / slush covered roadway. The vehicle skidded off the right side of the road hitting the frozen snowbank and rolled over on to it’s side. The vehicle came to rest leaning against a utility pole. The vehicle was heavily damaged. The 16 year old female operator was alone in the vehicle and sustained minor injuries. The operator was not transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Incident Type: CRIMINAL SPEED Date: 3/09/2018 Town: FORT KENT Trooper: CPL. HAFFORD Brief Synopsis: Cpl Hafford was patrolling on Rt. 1 in Fort Kent and met a vehicle travelling 81 mph in a 50-mph zone. Cpl Hafford issued the 18-year-old male a summons for criminal speed.

Incident Type: WARRANT ARREST Date: 3/09/2018 Town: LINNEUS Trooper: TR. ADAMS Brief Synopsis: Tr Adams did a warrant check on a 34-year-old male in Linneus. Tr Adams was able to locate the male at his residence and arrested him on 2 active warrants. Tr Adams transported the male to the ACJ.

Incident Type: WARRANT Date: 3/10/2018 Town: MAPLETON Trooper: CPL. MICHAUD Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Michaud was dispatched to a harassment complaint in Mapleton. He learned that the complainant actually had a warrant for his arrest for a prior assault and criminal threatening complaint on the person he had been complaining was harassing him. He was arrested on the warrant and transported to jail.
