Incident Type: WARRANT Date: 8/29/2017 Town: Blaine Trooper: Sgt. Clark  Brief Synopsis: Sgt. Clark was driving north in Blaine and observed a Bridgewater man that he knew had an active warrant. When Sgt. Clark stopped his cruiser to speak with the man he became instantly combative. Sgt. Clark used pepper spray to get the man under control but the man continued to resist arrest. Off. Mitch Wheeler, Limestone PD, was off duty and saw the incident taking place and stopped to assist Sgt. Clark with getting the man controlled and handcuffed. While Sgt. Clark was driving to the Aroostook County Jail the man tried to kick towards Sgt. Clark. Lt. Harris arrived and requested the assistance of a Border Patrol Agent who had a prisoner transport cage in his vehicle. The man was transported to the jail by the Border Patrol Agent. Beyond the warrant for trespassing the man received a charge of refusing to submit to arrest/detention and VCR. The man is still being held in the county jail.

Incident Type: Crash Date: 8/30/2017 Town: Connor Trooper: Cpl. Michaud  Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Michaud responded to a car-moose crash on Route 1 in Connor. Cpl. Michaud investigated the crash and determined that 29-year-old Jacklyne Girard, of Van Buren, had been traveling north in her 1999 Subaru when a moose ran into the roadway and struck the front of her vehicle. The moose crashed into the windshield of the vehicle and pushed the windshield and roof of the vehicle nearly as far back as the second row seat area. Girard was removed from the vehicle by Caribou Fire and Ambulance personnel and transported to Cary Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The vehicle was demolished in the crash and had to be towed from the scene.

Incident Type: OAS Date: 8/30/2017 Town: Fort Fairfield Trooper: Tr. Casavant  Brief Synopsis: Tr. Casavant pulled over a vehicle in Fort Fairfield for having a non-working headlight. After speaking with the operator and identifying him, Tr. Casavant discovered that the young male operator’s license had been suspended for failing to pay fines. He was cited for the infraction and arrangements were made for his vehicle to be driven by someone else.

Incident Type: WARRANT Date: 8/31/17 Town: Madawaska Trooper: Cpl. Michaud  Brief Synopsis: Sgt. Jeff Clark, Cpl. Chuck Michaud, and Tr. Nick Casavant worked with the US Marshall’s Service and Officers from Probation and Parole this week checking sex offender registrant’s addresses throughout Aroostook County. One individual on the sex offender registry was located in Madawaska and arrested on an outstanding warrant for a probation violation out of New Hampshire. He was arrested as a fugitive from justice and the process of transferring him to New Hampshire authorities has begun. In all, 145 residences/offenders were checked by Troopers and Officers from Houlton PD, Presque Isle PD, Caribou PD and Fort Kent PD. Officers from Houlton PD also arrested a male subject in Houlton on a Washington County warrant as part of the operation.

Incident Type: Warrant Date: 8/31/2017 Town: Houlton Trooper: Tr. Pescitelli  Brief Synopsis: Tr. Pescitelli learned that a male from Linneus had an active warrant for his arrest. Tr. Pescitelli went to the address listed on the warrant and learned that the individual did not live there anymore. About an hour later the individual called the Barracks and agreed to meet Tr. Pescitelli at a location in Houlton. Tr. Pescitelli then arrested the individual for the warrant.

Incident Type: OUI Date: 9/01/2017 Town: St. Agatha Trooper: Tr. Desrosier  Brief Synopsis: Tr. Desrosier stopped a vehicle in St. Agatha for a defective plate light. During the stop Tr. Desrosier determined that the 38-year-old operator was impaired by alcohol. Tr. Desrosier arrested the operator and transported her to the Madawaska PD for a breath test

Incident Type: OUI Date: 9/02/2017 Town: Woodland Trooper: Tr. Curtin  Brief Synopsis: Tr. Curtin received a report of a vehicle all over the road traveling North on Route 161 in Woodland. The caller followed the vehicle and it eventually pulled over. The caller confronted the operator and took the keys from his vehicle refusing to let him drive. Warden Ed Christie and Tr. Curtin soon arrived. As a result of the investigation Tr. Curtin arrested the 67-year-old St. Agatha man and charged him with OUI drugs.

Incident Type: ACCIDENT - FATAL Date: 9/02/2017 Town: Reed Plantation Trooper: Tr. Kilcollins  Brief Synopsis: Tr. Kilcollins responded to a vehicle that had gone off the road in the area of Santa Claus Hill on Rt. 2A in Reed Plt. A man and woman were reported to have been trapped under the vehicle. The vehicle was a 1995 Chevrolet regular cab pickup and was traveling north and failed to negotiate a right hand curve in the road. The vehicle went into the guardrails becoming airborne rolling multiple times hitting a guy-wire pole before coming to rest. The vehicle was damaged completely torn apart. The woman, Gail Suitter, was rescued and transported to Houlton Regional Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The man was Richie Suitter, Gail’s husband, died at the scene. The investigation is ongoing but speed and alcohol are believed to be the cause of the crash.

Incident Type: CRIMINAL SPEED Date: 9/03/2017 Town: Island Falls Trooper: Tr. Lilley  Brief Synopsis: Tr. Lilley was going to a crash in Sherman when he observed a vehicle coming up behind him at a high rate of speed. Tr. Lilley clocked the vehicle on radar driving 105 mph in a 55 mph construction zone. Tr. Lilley stopped the man and asked why he was driving so fast. The man said he knew he was speeding but did not think he was going 105 mph and then said his dog keeps distracting him. The man was issued a summons for criminal speed.

Incident Type: ASSAULT Date: 9/03/2017 Town: Eagle Lake Trooper: Tr. Desrosier Brief Synopsis: Tr. Desrosier was called to an assault that occurred in Eagle Lake. The victim a 32-year-old male, reported that 26-year-old male entered his apartment without permission to confront the victim about him talking to his girlfriend via Snap Chat. The victim grabbed an unloaded shotgun and told the male to leave. There was a struggle over the shot gun and the victim was taken to the ground. The suspect then head butted the victim in his forehead causing a large laceration. The suspect then offered to help clean him up and left the apartment. Tr. Desrosier located the suspect at his residence in Eagle Lake and obtained a confession. The man was arrested and transported to the Fort Kent PD where he posted bail. Tr. Desrosier charged the man with Burglary and Aggravated Assault.
