Incident Type: Criminal Traffic Date: 4/24/2017 Town: Presque Isle Trooper: Tr. Kilcollins Brief Synopsis: While driving through Presque Isle Tr. Kilcollins observed what he suspected was a fictitious inspection certificate being displayed on a vehicle. Tr. Kilcollins followed the vehicle into a parking lot where he stopped it and spoke with the driver. The 69-year-old man admitted to Tr. Kilcollins that he made the inspection certificate from construction paper and taped it to his windshield. The man was issued a criminal summons for displaying a fictitious certificate of inspection.

Incident Type: ACCIDENT Date: 4/26/2017 Town: Sherman Trooper: Tr. Saucier Brief Synopsis: At approximately 2100 Hours, 40-year-old Marvin Hostetler was driving a 1999 International tractor-trailer and was southbound on I-95 in Sherman while hauling a load of potatoes. Mr. Hostetler began to feel some heat in the cab of the truck and also smelled some fumes. Hostetler pulled over and got out of the truck. The vehicle was immediately engulfed by flames. Trooper Timmy Saucier, Stacyville Fire Department and Patten Ambulance responded to the scene. The interstate was closed for a short period of time while the fire was extinguished and debris cleared. There were no injuries in the crash, but the truck was completely destroyed. PHOTO HERE

Incident Type: ASSIST OTHER AGENCY Date: 4/28/2017 Town: Presque Isle Trooper: Tr. Levesque Brief Synopsis: PIPD requested assistance with a traffic stop. There were two males in the vehicle and one was on probation with search and testing conditions. Tr Levesque responded and searched the man on probation. Tr. Levesque found methamphetamines in the man’s shoe. The man was arrested and taken to PIPD. The other man in the vehicle was arrested by the PIPD officer for Operating after Suspension.

Incident Type: OAS Date: 4/29/2017 Town: Mount Chase Trooper: Tr. Lilley Brief Synopsis: Tr. Lilley was patrolling in Mount Chase and noticed the vehicle in front of him accelerating away. Tr. Lilley stopped the car for the speeding infraction. The 41-year-old male told Trooper Lilley his driver’s license is currently suspended due to an OUI conviction from 2009. The man was arrested for Operating after Suspension and he was issued a traffic summons for speeding. The man was taken to the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor.

Incident Type: SPEAKING ENGAGEMENT Date: 4/29/2017 Town: St. Agatha Trooper: Tr. Curtin Brief Synopsis: Tr. Curtin attended a “Touch a Truck” event in St. Agatha. The event was geared to familiarize the general public and young children with law enforcement vehicles and personnel.

Incident Type: SPEAKING ENGAGEMENT Date: 4/29/2017 Town: Presque Isle Trooper: Cpl. Michaud Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Michaud participated in an Autism Awareness event at the Presque Isle Middle School. There was a law enforcement area where members of the public could look over cruisers and ask questions of public safety personnel.

Incident Type: VIOLATION OF BAIL Date: 4/30/2017 Town: Wallagrass Trooper: Tr. Desrosier Brief Synopsis: While patrolling Route 11, Wallagrass, Tr. Desrosier stopped a vehicle for exceeding the posted speed limit. After stopping the vehicle and identifying the driver, Tr. Desrosier found the man has current conditions of release which prohibit him from using or possessing liquor and he has a curfew. The 29-year-old man violated both conditions and was arrested.
