Shea is charged with one count of possessing sexually explicit materials of someone under the age of 12.   He was transported to the Androscoggin County Jail and bail was set at $500, with conditions that he cannot have contact with children under the age of 18.

McCausland said State Police detectives acted on a tip.  Shea’s computer was seized and will be analyzed at the computer crimes unit.  Police said initial inspection of the computer showed hundreds of images of child pornography.

In addition to serving on the Auburn city council and publishing the monthly magazine, Shea is the founder of the Lewiston-Auburn Film Festival.

Shea lives in Auburn with his wife and two children. His first court date is set for May 1.
