The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for southern Maine with the potential for heavy snowfall which could add "significant weight to trees.”

It's still too early to determine exactly how much snow will fall during the April 1st storm, but forecasters say 4 - 8 inches is possible for the Portland area.

Snow should develop Friday evening and continue into Saturday afternoon, when it may mix with or change to rain, especially along the coast.

It looks like northern Maine will dodge most of the snow. Forecasters are calling for some snow in Aroostook County Saturday afternoon, but accumulations should be light.
