With families across Maine getting ready for those trips to the beach and to camp, expect to pay more to fill up the gas tank. According to the price-monitoring website GasBuddy.com, gas prices in Maine were higher by almost five cents per gallon this week for a statewide average of $2.34 per gallon.

Nationally, gas prices were up by six cents per gallon, for a national average of $2.28 per gallon.

A gas station in Kittery reported the lowest gas price in Maine with gas at $2.18 per gallon.

Mississippi has the lowest gas prices in the country with an average of $2.04 per gallon. This is also the first time in many months with no state in the country averaging under $2 per gallon.
