Maine Arts Commission Awards Grant to Wintergreen

Wintergreen Arts Center recently received a $2,800.00 Organizational Development grant from the Maine Arts Commission, an independent state agency supported by the National Endowment for the Arts.

“This grant is the second consecutive funding award from the Maine Arts Commission’s Organizational Development program,” said Dottie Hutchins, Wintergreen’s executive director.  “In 2016, Wintergreen received a similar $2,200.00 grant for leadership training, database management, and strategic planning efforts.”

With the support of the Maine Arts Commission through this year’s Organizational Development program grant, Wintergreen proposes to continue leadership training, engage the full board in a facilitated strategic planning process, and develop formal communications and fundraising plans for the Center.

One desired end result is organizational preparedness for Wintergreen to ultimately participate in the Maine Arts Commission’s Cultural Plan Grant program, which encourages cultural, economic and governmental sectors to work together to effect community cultural development.

“This grant will help our board take the next step in setting direction, establishing priorities, and creating measurable goals to ensure not only Wintergreen’s long-term success as an organization, but its future as a cultural leader in Aroostook County,” said Kim Guerrette Michaud, chairman of Wintergreen’s Board.  “We are grateful for the Maine Arts Commission’s grant process and commitment to northern Maine.”
