Limestone Woman Charged With Arson in Apartment Fire
Police have arrested a Limestone woman in connection with an arson fire early last month in Limestone.
Twenty tenants of a Main Street apartment building were displaced by the fire that broke out in the early morning hours of December 5th.
Limestone Police say 60-year-old Janie Lausier was a resident of the first floor apartment where the fire started. The majority of the fire damage was confined to apartment 4, where Lausier was living. There was also smoke and water damage throughout the building.
According to Senior Investigator Tim Lowell of the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office, a joint investigation with the Limestone Police Department identified Lausier early on in the investigation as a suspect.
Lausier was arrested upon release from a Bangor medical facility over the weekend and charged with arson. She was transported to the Aroostook County Jail.
The apartment building at 23 Main Street in Limestone is situated right next to the post office.
