Officer Douglas Bell was in the area and observed a tan four-door car traveling on the wrong side of the road at a very high rate of speed.

The driver turned north onto the Van Buren Road from Bennett Drive still in the wrong lane of travel going way over the posted speed limit.

The vehicle entered the roundabout intersection and struck a light pole and utility pole and came to rest in the ditch in the trees.

The driver was found to be Daniel Moutinho, 30 of Limestone, who was arrested for OPERATING UNDER THE INFLUENCE with one prior conviction and VIOLATION OF CONDITIONAL RELEASE.

He was transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton. Bail has been set at $500 cash or $2,500 surety. At the time of the arrest, Moutinho was out on three different bails. His arraignment date is scheduled for April 7, 2016.

Informing the police of drunk or drugged driving does save lives. “If you see something say something!”
