It’s been some time since we’ve had occasion to check in on The Leftovers before its final season, but surely HBO wouldn’t ignore the Sudden Departure’s anniversary. As such, creator Damon Lindelof takes fan questions and delivers a surprising performance to celebrate the final season.

Rather than answer any of the burning questions outright (come on, this is the man behind LOST), Lindelof took to answering fan-mail as a treat for October 14, including one very unique request. We’re not talking about Lindelof singing the revamped Leftovers “Let the Mystery Be” theme, we’re talking full-on BRAHMs and Renaissance fresco here.

Meanwhile, The Leftovers Season 3 wrapped the portion of its final run still set in the fictional Jarden, Texas, now operating an Australia shoot. Season 3 will bow at an unspecified date in 2017 (potentially spring, vacated by Game of Thrones), joined by Birdman and Alice: Through the Looking Glass star Lindsay Duncan

Near of the entire Season 2 cast has been confirmed to return for the final year, though no word on who, or how anyone might end up in Australia beyond either Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux) or his father, Kevin Sr. (now-elevated series regular Scott Glenn). The series has also released its first photos from the final season.

Here’s hoping The Leftovers Season 3 comes out with additional details soon, but in the meantime, check out Lindelof’s bizarre video above, and try not to depart anywhere too suddenly.
